We
have over 12 years of experiences with Unix started with Sun
OS 4.0 in 1989, but later also worked with SCO, HPUX, Unixware
and free ones like all BSD variants (FreeBSD, OpenBSD and
NetBSD). At Arnes and SiOL we used Sun OS 4.x and Solaris
2.x to run internet services, but since then I've run many
such services on *BSD systems with excellent results I think
Yahoo and which still holds record for most transferred bytes
per day are good examples that what counts are knowledge and
experience of people running those services - both running
FreeBSD and being one of the most bandwidth intensive sites.
We also did a lot of courses for Telekom (specialized course
on Unix for people working with telephone switches which use
SCO Unix for management) and other companies ranging from
basics of Unix to advanced system administration and network
stuff. But Unix is not the only thing we're good at because
of the clients we have to be well versed in everything that
they use for their work including DOS and Windows 3.x which
still run on some industrial machines!
Our activities includes providing consulting and turn-key
solutions to our customers (including some of the major companies
in Slovenia) ranging from outsourcing their computer communications
(Pečjak is one of the major food companies in Slovenia and
they rely on us to help them successfully run their business
selling best food products) and developing solutions for publishing
on the Internet (we are publishing magazine Slovenia Weekly
every week on the Internet: ) and developing solutions for
health-care and related areas including developing medical/health
portal Med.Over.Net (accessible via Internet on address ),
site for Slovene family medicine society (), Slovenian heart
foundation (as part of Med.Over.Net) and several others. We
are one of the few companies in Slovenia, which have certificates
for worlds most known security product Checkpoint Firewall-1.
We did most of the technical development and support for project
RIS Research on Internet in Slovenia which has been researching
Internet activities and development since 1996 we developed
tools to monitor growth and stability of Internet sites in
Slovenia via computers-to-computer testing. Because of our
past work for 2 of the biggest ISPs in Slovenia (Arnes and
SiOL - both at the beginning) we still do consulting for other
smaller ISPs and cable providers. We helped Siol migrate to
new billing software as one of the first projects of then
new company Siix in 1997 where we had to provide "glue"
to migrate from old system to new one with hardly any downtime
(few minutes of partial inaccessibility during migrating from
old to new servers).
